Flight delayed. Taco gold discovered. My wife’s plane was running an hour late, so I did what any responsible husband would do: found tacos and ordered a beer! 😂 That’s how I landed at Paco’s on Van Buren. Xavier greeted me at the counter with a smile and the kind of welcome that makes you glad you walked through the door. He recommended the quesabirria and we all know I respect a man with a taco plan. I grabbed a quesabirria and a carnitas taco, and let me make your ordering decision easy: GET THE QUESABIRRIA. If I’m sending my crew here for one thing, that’s the treasure. Beer in hand, tacos in front of me, shaded patio doing its part against the Phoenix summer. Suddenly, an airline delay felt like excellent itinerary planning. Now, a little honesty about the surroundings: Van Buren is busy, and there was some rough street activity near the bridge. This isn’t a secluded Scottsdale resort patio. But, it's really nice and I felt safe and comfortable. Super glad I stopped. Some of the best discoveries sit one step outside your comfort zone and mine is already pretty damn big. Expand yours! There are some great tacos out here. Special shout-out to the pilot of my wife’s plane: your inability to get here on time made this review possible. My marriage prefers punctuality. My stomach appreciates your contribution. Paco’s, you’ll see Taco Bill back soon. Crew: grab the quesabirria. This gem is absolutely worth the stop.

Found this place last year and love it. Only food I have eaten here is tacos because they are so damn good. Huge list to choose from, I’ve tried many and have some stand out favourites. Only knock is that their salsa is meh.

A happy-hour margarita is a persuasive little devil and at Diego Pops, it has accomplices: Amazing atmosphere Service with a big smile. Those are winners for me every time! But this is Taco Bill and the tacos themselves still have to earn their passage. On deck: Charred Skirt Steak and Grilled Plantain tacos. The steak takes a familiar route with red onion, caramelized onion, and cilantro. That pairing has a purpose: raw onion brings bite, while caramelized onion brings sweetness. No treasure map needed to understand the appeal. The plantain takes the scenic route: pickled onion, corn salsa, salsa verde, and house slaw on a corn tortilla. There’s some thoughtful taco engineering here. Sweetness from the plantain, acidity from the pickles and salsa, and crunch from the slaw. A reminder that a taco doesn’t an animal aboard to deserve your attention. My verdict? Genuinely good tacos. Worth eating, worth coming back for, but they haven’t seized command of the entire taco fleet just yet. Now, a confession: the amazing service, great patio and cool vibe slightly influenced this 7.8. Put these same tacos through the window of a back-alley taco truck, without the atmosphere and happy-hour margaritas, and I doubt I’d score them quite as high. That’s no knock on taco trucks, some of my favorite foil wrapped treasure comes from busted up trucks and carts. I’m scoring the tacos fairly, but I’m also a human having a good time. Pretending the rest of the experience had zero influence would be lie and I'm not willing to go there. I really do love this place, the people, and those margaritas. Diego Pops earns a return voyage from me. And, there are more taco options for me to choose from where the next round could hit GOLD. We are close but not there yet. TBD!! Worth the Voyage: A genuinely good taco. If you’re nearby, change course and make the stop. Your stomach will thank you. 🏴‍☠️🌮

Absolutely one of my favourite places in Nairobi! Sabor à Mexico has become a special spot for me and my daughter. We genuinely enjoy coming here together the food is always amazing, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s one of those places we’re always happy to come back to. Definitely our favourite taco spot in Nairobi, Kenya. 🌮❤️

I approached this quesabirria with the seriousness one should reserve for a meal capable of changing the trajectory of one’s life. Unfortunately, my trajectory remained unchanged. The quesabirria is… fine. The meat is there. The cheese is there. The consommé is there. Everything has shown up for work, but nobody is exactly going above and beyond. Flavor-wise, it feels like the quesabirria equivalent of a firm handshake. Technically pleasant, completely acceptable, and immediately forgotten. There’s no dramatic explosion of flavor. No moment where you stop chewing, stare into the distance, and wonder if you’ve just discovered something greater than yourself. If you're in Victoria BC and skip MAiiZ, you've officially committed a taco felony. 🌮 I've eaten tacos around the world and MAiiZ has earned a place near the very top of my list. The owner welcomed us like friends, personally served us himself, and made us feel like guests in his home rather than customers. You can tell this place is built on passion, pride, and an obsession with getting every detail. Our meal included the chicken tinga tacos, esquites, pozole, the tallest, coldest, most refreshing MAiiZ beer imaginable, and what may very well be the greatest jalapeño margarita I've ever had. Seriously... if that margarita had a fan club, I'd pay membership dues!! Now let's talk about the grasshopper tacos. I've had chapulines a few times before, but these were the best I've ever eaten. If the idea of insects makes you hesitate, don't. Just close your eyes and imagine perfectly seared pork with crispy caramelized edges—that wonderful combination of crunchy and meaty texture with a deep, savory flavor. That's the closest comparison I can make and still does it no justice. They're delicious, memorable, and absolutely call up one of my favorite quotes.... "all of the best things in life are one step outside your comfort zone." 🤗 🔥 Every bite reminded me why traditional nixtamalized corn makes such a difference. The tortillas aren't just a vessel—they're part of the experience. Rich, aromatic, served in a basket over a warm stone, and made with the kind of care that's becoming increasingly rare. Victoria BC has plenty of places to eat and many are very good. But MAiiZ is the place you'll remember. If you love authentic food, incredible hospitality, and tacos worth planning a vacation around, put this at the top of your list. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
